About DLA Academy
DLA Academy teaches the theory part of Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) online. Drivers in 49 states use our courses to get their CDL Class A or Class B, or to add a Hazmat, Passenger or School Bus endorsement.
Who runs DLA Academy
I’m Dexter Atmore Jr., a CDL holder from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and the founder of DLA Academy. I’m also an Army Reserve veteran. I served as an 88M Motor Transport Operator, so driving trucks started for me in uniform, long before I ever ran a route. Before this, I spent years in Coca-Cola’s route and sales world, the same blue-collar work a lot of our students come from, and I document that life on my ColaOnWheels channel.
I wrote DLA’s ELDT theory courses myself and built the whole system around one idea: drivers shouldn’t overpay or wait around to get back to work. Since then, more than 9,802 ELDT courses have been completed with us, and my wife and I still run it like a family business, with real people answering your emails.

Listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry
DLA Academy is listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry for all five theory courses: Class A, Class B, Passenger, School Bus and Hazmat. When you pass, we submit your completion to the registry for you. You can check our listing yourself at tpr.fmcsa.dot.gov, and our guide explains how to check any provider.
How our courses work
- Self-paced and online, on any phone or computer. Most courses take under two hours.
- Every lesson is written text with optional audio narration, and ends in a final test.
- After you pass, you confirm your details and we file your completion: within 24 hours, or within minutes with Instant Submission.
