Fast, Affordable & FMCSA Approved

If you're applying for a Class B CDL for the first time, federal law requires you to complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) theory before you can take your CDL skills test. DLA Academy's CDL B Theory ELDT course fulfills that requirement — fully online, self-paced, and accepted in all 50 states.

At just $20, it's the most affordable FMCSA-approved CDL B ELDT course available anywhere. Don't overpay — get the same federally required training for a fraction of what other providers charge.

What Vehicles Require a Class B CDL?

A Class B CDL covers a wide range of commercial vehicles. You likely need this course if you plan to drive any of the following:

  • Straight trucks (box trucks, dump trucks, delivery trucks)
  • City transit buses and coach buses
  • School buses (combined with the School Bus ELDT endorsement)
  • Passenger vans.
  • Segmented buses

If you plan to drive a tractor-trailer or any vehicle towing a trailer over 10,000 lbs. GVWR, you'll need a Class A CDL instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a CDL A and CDL B?A Class A CDL is required to operate combination vehicles — like tractor-trailers — where the towed unit exceeds 10,000 lbs. GVWR. If you're unsure which you need, check with your employer or state DMV.
